The Chase Sapphire Reserve has been so popular that Chase ran out of the metal versions of the card within the first week.
As reported by Bloomberg, in just two days there were tens of thousands of applications for Sapphire Reseve card, surpassing the Chase teams expectations. It is not at all surprising given the hundreds of blog articles and thousands of forum and Reddit posts.
What is the hype about?
First and foremost is the 100,000 point signup bonus for new card holders who spend $4,000 in the first three months. Second is the great point earning ratio on restaraunts and travel categories, with 3x points on all spend. Third is the great benefits that come with the card which include a $300 travel reimbursement each calendar year and a reimbursement for Global Entry or TSA precheck (to name just a few, there are many more).
I consider this card a no brainier, even with the $450 annual fee as the benefits significantly outweigh the cost. It will replace my sapphire preferred card (which I will downgrade to Freedom Unlimited).
