After about one month since the last bonus increase, American Express has upped the Hilton HHonors and HHonors Surpass sign up bonus’ to the best we have seen.  As of the end of March, the HHonors card now has a 75k signup bonus after spending $1,000 in the first three months.  As we mentioned in our past article, one best aspects of this card is that there is no annual fee.

  • 5x Hilton HHonors bonus points for each dollar of eligible purchases on your card:

For those willing to spend an extra $75, Amex is offering the Hilton HHonors Surpass card with a 100k bonus after $3,000 in three months.  This card boasts a higher reward rate on Hilton spend, and US restaurants, supermarkets and gas stations.  It also comes with Gold status (compared to silver), which makes it a great choice for those with regular Hilton stays.

  • 12x Hilton HHonors bonus points for each dollar of eligible purchases charged on your card directly with a participating hotel or resort within the Hilton Portfolio.
  • 6x Hilton HHonors bonus points for each dollar of eligible purchases on your card:
    • U.S. restaurants
    • U.S. supermarkets

  • 3X Hilton HHonors bonus points for all other eligible purchases on your card

Card Features

Now is a great time to sign up for a Hilton Amex card, as bonuses are at all time highs.  Multipliers are better than the Citi Hilton HHonors Visa which only earn 3x points at supermarkets, drugstores, gas stations and 2x points on everything else.  The real question is which card to get (if not both).  We suggest weighing out what your potential spending looks like.  For those with light spending at Hilton or those who are not looking to achieve immediate gold elite status, we recommend the HHonors card with no annual fee as the 1 extra point at restaraunts, supermarkets, and gas stations is not worth the annual fee.

What is this offer worth?

We value Hilton HHonors points at 0.55c to 0.65c a piece making this offer worth approximately $450 for the no annual fee HHonors card and the Surpass offer worth approximately $600, enough for 5 nights at a category 5 property.
